Art Workshop Wednesday For Kids

August 6, 3:30 pm.

Kids ages 4-12 are invited to 53rd St Library to do art from 3:30-4:30 PM each Wednesday. We’ll work with different materials to create new art each week!

No registration is needed for this workshop. Please just show up to our children’s floor on the Lower Level by 3:40 PM and join in. Enough materials will be provided for at least 10 children each week. We will provide books to tie in with our craft themes. Younger children may participate in modified versions of the craft if it is possible.

Our workshops for July 2025:

Wednesday:

August 6 – Watercolor Flowers

Use watercolors on coffee filters to create colorful blooms, and make them into flowers with pipe cleaners!

August 13 – Collage a self portrait

Use scraps from magazines and old books to make a picture of yourself–or just representing yourself.

August 20 – 53rd Street Library will be closed August 19 and 20th for building maintenance. Please visit our nearby branches.

August 27 – Special summer party: Alien creatures! (see separate Events Page entry)

Special guests from Music Arts Puppets Sound (MAPS) will visit and do a workshop where we’ll craft alien creatures!

From MAPS: “Inspired by the cosmos, we will examine and discuss creatures from the worlds of science fiction and mythology to inform our creative direction as we make original masks. We will turn ourselves into imagined creatures that might just live in outer space.”

Location:

18 West 53rd Street
New York, New York
