Collective Focus Resource Hub  is a Brooklyn artist collective and 501(c)3 nonprofit that distributes resources and builds community prosperity through creative opportunities. In the past year alone, we distributed over $500,000 worth of free food and clothing to 30,000 Bushwick and Bedstuy neighbors.

On November 4th, we are partnering with The Ritz Bar & Lounge in Hell’s Kitchen to host a party for the launch of our new food rescue web app, FridgeFinder. The event will feature an immersive art & tech presentation, drag performances, and premiere our latest photo series entitled Fridge Angels.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, over 130 free fridges have been established throughout NYC. While our organization has streamlined our food justice initiatives, with over 20% of New Yorkers reporting food insecurity, the Community Fridge Movement has become at risk of extinction. Fridge Angels is a photo series produced by artists of Collective Focus, whose aim is to highlight the urgent need to reinvigorate NYC food justice work through these integral community fridges.

In conjunction with the Fridge Angels photo series, our coalition is banning together with the help of the FridgeFinder app to revamp support and continue fighting food insecurity. We hope to gain coverage on this November 4th launch party so that our work can reach a wide audience and re-energize public awareness of the movement. We are one of many mutual aid groups, and our goal is to demonstrate the vast potential for enhanced city-wide food rescue initiatives, connect everyone through this comprehensive app, and amplify the voices of marginalized communities involved in this work.
