Queens Center Celebrates 50 Years of Operation
Queens Center will be commemorating 50 years of serving as the hub for retail and entertainment within the Elmhurst community of Queens, New York. In honor of this milestone, the mall will be celebrating half a century of operation with a series of experiential programming including dance shows, trivia inspired by the decades and art.
Details of the celebration:
11am – 6pm: The Queens Center 50th Anniversary Decades Trivia Game Show hosted by The Game Show Experience, a local business owned by Queens native. Visitors will be able to take part in interactive trivia games with questions centered around tunes, movies and TV shows throughout the decades including the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s, with a chance to win select prizes. The game show will take place on Level 2, near Starbucks.
11am – 6pm: Visitors can receive custom fashion sketches of themselves painted by Queens native, Helen Xue of Ocean Take Flight. Limited to one sketch per person while supplies last. The sketches will take place on Level 3, next to Champs.
12pm: Key mall representatives of the iconic shopping center will present welcoming remarks.
1pm – 2:50pm: Live performances by Disco Inferno Roller Skate Dancers will take place on the Concourse level, in front of Snipes. The dancers will be performing four, three-minute shows starting at 1pm, 1:35pm, 2:10pm and 2:45pm.
12pm-4pm: Custom print artists from Fresh Off The Press, will personalize tote bags with the original Queens Center logo for a giveaway for the first 300 Limited to one bag per customer. The live printing will take place on Level 1, near Cheesecake Factory.
Throughout the day, guests can visit Queens Centers display windows located on Queens Blvd, next to the main entrance, which will display themes of the 70s and present day. The window display representing the 1970s will be designed by Noel Martinez and the modern-day window will be designed by Monique Glover.
