On the night of March 8, 1657, the Dutch ship The Prince Maurice slammed into the coast of Fire Island with 129 souls aboard. Join presenters Toya Dubin, New Amsterdam History Center Project Director, and Drew Shuptar-Rayvis Algonkian, Historical Consultant, for a richly illustrated presentation that includes 3D models, documents, and interactive maps. This largely unknown story can be told thanks to a grant from the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation for the New Amsterdam History Center’s Mapping Early New York Project. Sponsored by the Port Washington Library’s Nautical Advisory Council.
